Summer Show Report

Ah, summer.  The time of toy shows.  This is peak toy show season, seems like there’s one every weekend. Sometimes two in one weekend.  Take last weekend for example---there was the 2003 Japan Toy Show in Yokohama, and the Wonder Festival in Tokyo!  Check out my report from the Japan Toy Show below; for WonFes, click here!

2003 Japan Toy Show

Well, I’ll start off by saying this show was a bit of a disappointment.  It was more of a family event with lots of kiddie stuff, and no real toy news for collectors. A nice Transformers display from Takara, but that was about it.  Huge Bandai area showing off mainstays like Power Rangers, Gundam, Pokemon, etc.  Big showings from Tomy and Takara’s non-Transformer lines as well.

No, these aren’t upcoming reissues!  Just a few                      Some more.                                                                  oldies to celebrate TF’s upcoming 20th!

These were from Takara or Sega, I can’t remember!            Tomy’s toy train display with famous Japanese        Absolutely hilarious though, the video they had  playing         landmarks!                                                                     reminded me of Toonces the Driving Cat!     

Well, that’s it for the Japan Toy Show!  In retrospect, it wasn’t so bad.  Maybe even a little fun.  However, Wonder Festival 2003 on Sunday was much better!  I didn’t take as many pics, but check out the full story here!
