About Us

By collectors, for collectors.

It Came From Japan! is owned and operated by some serious collectors.  While we may have a somewhat modest selection, we make up for it in the quality of the products we sell and outstanding collector-friendly service.  You can expect fast shipping and bulletproof packing.

After a decade of selling on eBay under the ID "itcamefromjapan," we've decided to start our own website (or new site, for those of you who might have found the old one several years ago...).

It Came From Japan! currently calls Canada its home; all orders ship from the Toronto area.  All pricing is in Canadian dollars.


Where we ship...

...is everywhere!  We currently ship by Canada Post and UPS, which can be shipped just about everywhere.  Rates are of course reasonable in Canada and the United States.  However shipping to countries outside of North America is extremely expensive for some reason.  Don't ask me why, it's all Canada Post.  UPS and Fedex rates are equally ridiculous to match.  Until we find something better, we're stuck with them unfortunately.

Our shipping calculator currently is configured for Canada and the USA only.  We will be adding worldwide calculation in the near future.  Until then, please email us for a shipping quote if you're outside of Canada.


Special Orders

Don't see what you are looking for on our website?  We will happily order anything you need from our suppliers!  Our vast overseas resources give us access to most merchandise sold at retail in Japan, as well as Japanese website or mail-order exclusives, convention exclusives, and even out-of-production and vintage items!

Just send us an email at info@itcamefromjapan.com and we'll get you an estimate.  For items that are immediately available to us, once an estimate has been approved and payment received, it will typically take 2-4 weeks for us to receive the order.  Some harder to find items can take months for us to locate before we are able to give you an estimate, so your patience is appreciated.


Preorders/Waiting List

Preorders are accepted through our waiting list reservation system.  Not to be confused with Sideshow's wait list policy, if you sign our waiting list, your order is guaranteed!!  If the waiting list option is available, that means we still have remaining stock.  This system allows you to reserve an item without paying up front; we will send you a Paypal invoice when your preorder arrives in our warehouse.

If you would like to combine preorders with in-stock orders, simply add a comment in your order or email us immediately at orders@itcamefromjapan.com.  Payment for the in-stock portion of the order is required at the time of order; we will hold orders for up to three months while waiting for preordered items to arrive unless other arrangements have been made.


Backorders

Backordered items are currently not in stock but are still available from our suppliers.  Backordered items are considered "special order" items and require immediate payment in full.  These cannot be returned without incurring a restocking fee at our discretion.  These will typically ship within 2-4 weeks after placing your order.

If your order contains both in-stock and backordered items, the order will ship complete once all items have arrived in stock.  You can request a partial shipment if you would like the in-stock portion of the order to ship immediately, but you will be invoiced for additional shipping charges when the backordered items arrive in our warehouse and are ready to ship.   Simply add a comment in your order or email us at orders@itcamefromjapan.com to request a partial shipment.  Alternatively you can place separate orders for in-stock and backordered items.

   
Rewards Points

At It Came From Japan! we value your business, and we are happy give back to our customers in the form of rewards points!  For every dollar you spend in our store, you will receive 2 rewards points, or 2% back to spend in our store on any item!

Every item page tells you how many points you will receive for the purchase.  You can view your points by logging in to your account.  To redeem, simply log in to your account, go to "My Rewards", and select "Redeem".  Then you will be able to purchase a gift certificate with your points that you can use during checkout.


Shipping Info

In-stock orders ship from Toronto within 1-2 business days of being placed.  (All orders include insurance and tracking information unless other arrangements have been agreed upon.)  Add in the shipping time to your destination by the shipping method of your choice.  Listed below are the typical shipping methods we use from Canada Post.

To Canada:
  • Canada Post Expedited Parcel:  2-4 business days after ship date to most major areas.  May take a few days longer if you're out in the woods somewhere!
  • Canada Post Xpresspost:  1-2 business days after ship date to most major areas.  Again, it may take a day or two longer if you are outside of a major metropolitan area.
  • UPS Standard (Ground):  2-7 business days, depending on your proximity to the Toronto area.
  • Local Pickup:  This can be arranged if you're willing to meet in west Mississauga; email us for details.
To the United States:
  • Same options as above, just add another 2-3 days to the delivery time.
  • NEW Airmail Small Packet:  1-3 weeks after ship date.  Tracking is not available with this shipping method, but insurance is included.  This method is very economical and reliable.  Smaller orders only, as this is size/weight/value limited.
Outside of North America:
  • Xpresspost:  Typically 3-5 business days after ship date to most major areas.  It really depends on your destination and customs procedures, etc., so it might take longer.  Very expensive, but again this is Canada Post's fault, not mine.  Currently you must email us for an estimate at info@itcamefromjapan.com.
  • NEW Airmail Small Packet:  1-3 weeks after ship date.  Tracking is not available with this shipping method, but insurance is included.  This method is very economical and reliable.  Smaller orders only, as this is size/weight/value limited.


Sales Tax (Canada only)

We do charge sales tax as the law requires, GST/HST for Canadian orders.  This will vary by province, you know who you are!!

Orders to the USA and the rest of the world of course ship tax-free!  (Although you will be subject to any duties, taxes, or brokerage fees charged by your own country.  It Came From Japan! is in no way responsible for any of that!)  


Returns

We accept returns under the following conditions.

New items from normal, in-stock orders may be returned within 30 days of the ship date ONLY if they are still in the same original condition, meaning still sealed with the packaging in the original condition.  You will be refunded for the item but not the shipping, and the cost of the return shipping is the buyer's responsibility.

If an item is received damaged, it may be exchanged for the same item only or store credit if the same item is no longer available.

Backorder and Special Order items are typically not returnable.  However we will examine these on a case-by-case basis, and at the very least you will be charged a hefty restocking fee if we choose to allow a return.

In-stock rare/used/vintage items that do not fall under the category of Backorder and Special Order items are also typically not returnable.  These are carefully checked and verified before they are shipped, so there should be no problems whatsoever.  However we will examine these on a case-by-case basis, and at the very least you will be charged a hefty restocking fee if we choose to allow a return.

It Came From Japan! reserves the right to refuse any return for any reason if we suspect any funny business or wrongdoing.

Under no circumstances are items to be returned without prior approval and instructions.
